Brunei to require E-Arrival Card from February 2023

From 9 February 2023, international travellers must present a Brunei E-Arrival Card before entering the country, with exemptions for transit passengers.

From 9 February, travellers entering Brunei must present a Brunei E-Arrival Card before arrival.

All foreign nationals must register for the free E-Arrival Card to enter via air, land or sea checkpoints. Transit passengers are currently exempt from this requirement.

You will need a valid passport, Brunei accommodation address and flight or vehicle details to complete the form. The immigration department advises visitors to apply well in advance of travel. The card is available via the Immigration and National Registration Department.

Brunei Darussalam lies on the island of Borneo in East Asia. The UN World Tourism Organization reports a steady rise in visitor numbers in recent years, from 473 000 in 2015 to over 600 000 in 2018. Tourism remains underdeveloped despite government efforts to promote it, with most arrivals coming from neighbouring Asia-Pacific countries such as Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

Note that Brunei lifted all remaining travel-health restrictions on 1 December 2022. For assistance contact email: info@immigration.gov.bn or WhatsApp +673 729 9550.
