Dominican Republic Announces Revised Consular Visa Fees
The Dominican Republic updates its visa pricing structure to improve affordability and transparency for its diaspora, with refunds for overcharged applicants.
The Dominican government, committed to providing the best services to citizens living abroad, has revised the fees for various types of visas and other consular services. Price transparency is also a key focus of this initiative.
New Visa Fees in the Dominican Republic
According to an official announcement, here are the updated fees for Dominican visas:
Single-entry tourist visa: $100
Single-entry business visa: $150
Student visa: $100
Dependence visa: $150
Resident visa: $200
Multiple-entry business visa: $200
Single-entry courtesy visa: $0
Work-related business visa: $200
The Dominican authorities will refund anyone previously overcharged under the new fee schedule. Certain consular offices had previously set their own, often higher, pricing. Consulates are now required to report monthly revenue from these services.
Other Services Affected by the Fee Revision
This fee reform extends beyond visas, covering additional consular services such as passports, powers of attorney, certificates, and more.
By lowering these costs, the government aims to ease administrative burdens and encourage more citizens living abroad to access essential services.
Published and Regularly Updated Consular Tariffs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic commits to publishing and regularly updating the full list of fees for consular services on its official website and through its diplomatic and consular missions worldwide. Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez emphasized the importance of addressing the needs of this community to ensure optimal service quality.
Streamlined and More Affordable Procedures
By reducing fees, the authorities aim to simplify administrative processes and make them more financially accessible. Improved communication about the new fees will help applicants understand their rights and the costs associated with their requests.

Haitians Top Dominican Republic Visitor Numbers
Over the past year, the Dominican Republic issued nearly 100,000 business visas to Haitians, who have spent approximately $80 million over five years on Dominican visas, according to Listín Diario.
Many Western countries do not require a visa for entry to the Dominican Republic if stays do not exceed 90 days, but they must obtain an online e-Ticket QR code, which is issued free of charge.
