E-visa update: Tajikistan expands its offer
An e-visa policy update from Tajikistan offers travelers easier access, a longer 60-day stay, and multiple-entry options—plus a key permit for the GBAO region.
Bulgarian good news: those planning trips to Tajikistan, a striking mountainous country in Central Asia, now face simpler entry procedures thanks to its electronic visa (e-visa) system. As of 1 March 2020, the application process has been streamlined, following directives from President Emomali Rahmon to ease travel for foreign visitors.

The new e-visa allows stays of up to 60 days—previously capped at 45 days—within a 90-day validity window. Applicants must also ensure their passport remains valid for at least six months beyond their visa’s expiration date. Multiple-entry e-visas are now on offer, opening the door to visits in nearby countries while the 90-day validity remains active.
Eligible for the new e-visa programme are passport holders from 121 nations, who may choose either a single- or multiple-entry e-visa. Those intending to explore the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region—giving access to most sites except Lake Sarez—may opt for its paid GBAO permit as well.
