Egypt expands e-Visa eligibility to 74 nationalities including China and UAE
Egypt now allows 74 nationalities — including Singapore, China and the UAE — to apply for its streamlined online e-Visa in a push to revive tourism post-pandemic.
Egypt is using this window to turbo-charge an urgently needed tourism rebound. The North-African gateway has opened its online e-Visa scheme to 28 fresh nationalities, bringing the total to 74 countries whose citizens can now apply digitally. Designed for simplicity, zero border-cash headaches, and the shortest possible airport queues, the e-Visa is especially valued during a pandemic when every contact counts.
Joining the programme are major economies such as China, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.
Standard consular fees start at US$25 per traveller for a single-entry Egypt e-Visa—apply here or via our site. As this article went to press, Egypt’s inbound health restrictions were minimal, yet unvaccinated passengers returning to France must still observe a quarantine on return.
Tourism is the backbone of Egypt’s economy—accounting for roughly 12 % of GDP and employing millions of Egyptians. The COVID-19 pandemic hit the sector hard, and Egypt responded with national safeguards and incentives to cushion businesses and workers.
Measures to rescue its tourism industry included:
Health & Safety Protocols: Egypt rolled out strict standards for hotels, restaurants and attractions—frequent disinfection, temperature checks, mask mandates and physical distancing.
Domestic Tourism Push: To offset lost international visitors, the government offered Egyptians deep discounts and special rates on local-site visits.
Business Rescue Packages: A suite of financial relief—tax deferrals and low-interest loans—kept hundreds of beleaguered tourism firms afloat.
