Gabon launches free e-Visa for tourists from July to September 2025

Gabon will waive tourist e-Visa fees for international travelers from July 1 to September 30, 2025, to boost eco-tourism through a simplified digital process.

Gabon has announced the introduction of a free e-tourist visa for all international travelers from July 1 to September 30, 2025. The measure was unveiled at a press conference in Libreville on June 30, 2025 by the Minister of Tourism, Pascal Ogowe Siffon, and the Minister of the Interior, Hermann Immongault. It is part of the second edition of the Tourism Caravan, a program aimed at promoting access to the country and showcasing Gabon’s ecotourism strengths.

A streamlined, fully digital process

The electronic tourist visa is digital, free and issued within 48 hours. It applies to all foreign nationals wishing to visit Gabon for tourism during the promotional period. Designed to be fast and secure, the system eliminates the need for embassy appointments or paper-based procedures. The platform will go live on July 1, 2025.

This initiative is designed to deliver travelers a simplified, modern and cost-free experience, empowering them to discover Gabon with confidence and without constraint

Steps to obtain the e-Visa:

  • Create an account on the official portal (edgdi.dgdi.ga) using your passport details and a recent passport photo.

  • Complete the online form and select a host (hotel, travel agency or individual).

  • The chosen host must be pre-registered on the portal to validate the application.

  • Once submitted, the visa is processed and issued within 48 hours.

  • No embassy or consulate visit is required and no fee applies to applications submitted during the eligible period.

The Ministry of the Interior urges all stakeholders—tourists, hotels, travel agencies and private hosts—to register promptly on the platform to avoid delays during peak tourist season.

Gabon: an eco-tourism destination to explore

Nestled on Africa’s Atlantic coast and bordered by Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon and the Republic of the Congo, Gabon has a population of just over two million and remarkable natural wealth. Boasting 13 national parks, lush equatorial forests, diverse wildlife and pristine beaches, the country is positioning itself as a leading light in eco-tourism across Africa.

By waiving visa fees and reducing bureaucracy over the coming months, the government aims to attract more visitors and introduce the world to its natural and cultural treasures.
