The World Cup in Qatar is about to get underway, in a climate of relative indifference due to the geopolitical context and organizational conditions. The Emirate has decided to block the entry of travellers who are not directly or remotely involved in the competition, between November 1 and December 23, i.e. 3 weeks before and 1 week after the end of the competition respectively.
To enter Qatar, you must be in possession of the precious sesame to attend a match and apply for a visa. Hayya Cardthe equivalent of Russia's Fan ID in 2018. Holders of this passport-linked card will even be able to stay in the country until January 23, without having to apply for a visa, and will be offered free public transport in the country.
Categories exempted from the suspension of entry to Qatar include: Qatari citizens, residents and GCC citizens holding a Qatari identity card. Card holders Hayya can invite 3 family members and friends to attend the World Cup.
Apply for the Hayya card on the official website https://hayya.qatar2022.qa/
Don't forget the Qatari health declaration form, even if non-vaccinated travelers are welcome during the competition. However, they must present a negative PCR test less than 48 hours old (or antigenic test -24 hours).
According to our information, the Emirate has already begun suspending the issue of tourist visas for certain nationalities, notably those not eligible for visa exemption (Africa as a whole and part of Asia).
As a reminder, this small Emirate recently caused controversy by stating that it could not accommodate all the people it was expecting, and was therefore multiplying its air shuttles with its Gulf neighbors, in a forgotten ecological context.
