Mozambique Suspends ETA Requirement for Visa-Exempt Travelers
The Mozambique government has temporarily suspended its electronic travel authorization (ETA) requirement for nationals from 29 visa-exempt countries due to technical issues with the registration platform.
The Mozambique government announced on May 16, 2025, the immediate and temporary suspension of the requirement for travelers from 29 visa-exempt countries to register electronically at least 48 hours before arrival. The measure, introduced in late April 2025, aimed to strengthen border security and better anticipate traveler flows.
Interior Minister Mint informed travelers through an official statement and via Facebook.

However, technical issues with the electronic registration platform prevented the system from functioning normally and users from submitting their data. Due to these challenges, the National Migration Service (SENAMI) decided to temporarily suspend the ETA requirement to safeguard travelers' rights and ensure service continuity.
Countries Exempt from ETA Requirement
During the suspension, travelers from the following 29 countries may enter Mozambique without needing to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) in advance and can stay for up to 30 days:
Africa: Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal
Europe: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom
Asia: China, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea
Middle East: Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Israel
North America: United States, Canada
For most other travelers, Mozambique already offers visa-free entry for up to 90 days or allows on-arrival visa applications. Visit the official portal https://www.evisa.gov.mz/ to check your e-Visa eligibility.
Temporary Measure
SENAMI emphasized that the suspension will remain in effect until technical conditions are resolved and technical issues with the system are fully addressed. An official update will be issued at that time.
The Mozambican government reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating tourism while ensuring the efficiency, accessibility, and security of its immigration services.
