Qatar Extends Hayya Cards Validity for AFC Asian Cup Fans
The Qatari Interior Ministry has extended Hayya visa validity and entry deadlines ahead of the AFC Asian Cup 2024, enhancing travel flexibility for football fans during the Asian tournament.
The Qatari Ministry of Interior has announced an extension of Hayya visa validity until 24 February 2024, with the entry deadline now set at 10 February 2024.
Hayya Platform Supporting Fans
In partnership with the Hayya platform, the Ministry of Interior aims to enhance visitor experiences during their stay in Qatar. The Hayya visa extension forms part of this initiative, allowing holders full access to 2024 events such as the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, which will be hosted in Qatar from 12 January to 10 February 2024 for the third consecutive time.
Entry Requirements and Health Insurance

Travelers entering Qatar under the Hayya visa or extending a tourist stay must meet conditions set by the Qatari Ministry of Public Health. A key requirement is mandatory health insurance for visitors needing advance entry visas.
Eligible visitors who can obtain visas on arrival—including travelers from Europe—are exempt from purchasing health insurance for stays of up to 30 days. However, those wishing to extend their stay beyond this period must arrange valid health coverage.
Only health insurance policies issued by nationally registered Qatari insurers or internationally accredited companies approved by the Ministry of Public Health are valid for visitor use in Qatar.
Once insurance is secured, the Hayya Card can be applied for via the official Ministry of Interior website or the Metrash2 mobile app.
Health Insurance Cost
The mandatory health insurance fee for visitors in Qatar is 50 QAR monthly (€11.9). Additional coverage can be purchased at premiums determined by each insurer.
Qatar continues to refine its tourism and sports event access policies, implementing measures tailored to international visitor expectations.
