RwandAir Launches Direct Paris-Kigali Route Strengthening France-Rwanda Ties

RwandAir introduces a new direct Paris-Kigali route, cutting travel time and boosting Rwanda's tourism and economic ties with Europe.

RwandAir, Rwanda’s national airline, has launched a new direct route between Paris and Kigali as of today, 27 June 2023. The French capital becomes the ninth European destination served by the Rwandan carrier. This new air link underscores Rwanda and Africa’s commitment to global engagement and to deepening economic and tourism ties with France and Europe.

An 8h30 flight to boost connectivity

The direct Paris-Kigali service cuts travel time to approximately 8 hours 30 minutes, a significant saving for passengers. Flights between the two capitals previously required at least one stopover in a neighboring country—such as Ethiopia or Kenya—adding several hours to each journey. This new two-city link eases travel between Europe and East Africa, supporting Rwanda’s international tourism and local economic growth.

Rwanda: A Rising Tourism Hotspot

Nicknamed the “Land of a Thousand Hills,” Rwanda continues to gain popularity with global travelers. The country boasts natural treasures like the iconic Virunga Mountains—home to the last mountain gorillas—and Akagera National Park, a haven for African wildlife.

A nation leading in environmental protection

Rwanda is a leader in environmental stewardship and sustainable development. As early as 2008, it became the first African country to ban single-use plastic bags. The government has since invested heavily in reforestation and biodiversity, aiming to increase national forest cover to at least 30 per cent by 2030.

This strong environmental policy draws eco-conscious visitors eager to explore a country that prizes its natural and cultural heritage. The new Paris-Kigali route operated by RwandAir accelerates this momentum, giving more Europeans easier access to this compelling destination.

E-visas: A Modern Gateway to Rwanda

Visitors to Rwanda benefit from an e-visa system that simplifies entry. French passport holders can now obtain an electronic visa in minutes without visiting an embassy. The e-visa allows tourist or business stays of up to 30 days and is priced at 50 USD.

A magnet for international visitors

The e-visa initiative is key to Rwanda’s tourism strategy, making travel to the country more accessible and attractive. Paired with air links like the new Paris-Kigali route, it strengthens Rwanda’s appeal to global tourists and investors, driving economic and social progress.
