Thailand Waives Arrival/Departure Forms for Tourists Until October 15
Thailand’s government has temporarily suspended the TM.6 arrival/departure entry card for all foreign visitors through October 15, 2024, easing border crossings at major land and sea ports.
This practice already applied to entries from Malaysia — the Thai government has now announced an extension: the temporary waiver of the TM.6 form—also known as the “arrival and departure card”—for all tourists entering or leaving the country between April 15 and October 15, 2024.
What Is the TM.6 Form?
The TM.6 collects key visitor details—name, nationality, Thai accommodation address, and intended length of stay—for national-security tracking. Under this temporary exemption, travelers no longer need to complete it when entering or exiting via Thai border checkpoints.
What Does This Mean for Visitors?
By skipping the TM.6, international tourists now face simpler entry and exit procedures at all of Thailand’s designated land and maritime border gates:
8 land crossings: Aranyaprathet (Sa Kaeo), Muang (Mukdahan), Muang (Nong Khai), Chiang Saen (Chiang Rai), Padang Besar & Sadao (Songkhla), Sungai Kolok (Narathiwat), and Betong (Yala)
8 maritime ports: Pattaya, Sri Racha & Sichang (Chon Buri), Map Ta Phut (Rayong), Samui (Surat Thani), Phuket, Surat Thani & Krabi
This move underscores Thailand’s ongoing commitment to streamline traveler entry and bolster tourism accessibility.
Post-Exemption Review Period
Thai security agencies will monitor the impact of the waiver over the six-month trial. Findings will guide whether the measure is maintained, adjusted, or rescinded. If the exemption proves economically beneficial without jeopardizing national security, it may be extended or even made permanent.
