Turkey May Soon Be Added to India’s e-Visa Eligible Nationalities

Could Turkey soon join the list of nationalities eligible for India’s e-Visa? As economic and cultural ties deepen, Ankara is pushing for streamlined travel access.

In an effort to further boost trade and tourism between Turkey and India, Turkish authorities are seeking to secure e-Visa access for their citizens traveling to India.

According to Turkey’s ambassador to India Fırat Sunel, bilateral trade has doubled over the past decade—reaching nearly US$20 billion—and the two countries have stood by each other during difficult times.

The tourism opportunity as a growth driver

Mr. Sunel stressed that expanding tourist flows would generate significant revenue for both nations. While Turkey currently draws most of its visitors from Germany, Russia and the UK, India represents a major untapped market and he expressed the goal of welcoming over one million Indian travelers to Turkey in the near future.

The role of MICE travel in deepening ties

  • Cultural and economic links strengthened through MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions) activities

  • Greater market access for Turkish investment in India

  • New cross-sector partnerships between Indian and Turkish enterprises

The ambassador is therefore urging India to introduce an e-visa for Turkish citizens traveling to India. Concurrently, Indian passport holders already benefit from a 30-day e-Visa when visiting Turkey—typically arriving via Pegasus Airlines or Turkish Airlines.
