Cape Verde Requires Entry Visa from January 2026: List of 96 Countries Affected
Cape Verde will mandate entry visas for travelers from 96 countries starting January 1, 2026, including single-entry, transit, and stopover visas via an online portal.
The Cape Verdean authorities have announced via their online visa platform that a new measure will take effect from 1 January 2026. Several nationalities will now be required to obtain a visa before arrival in Cape Verde, including single-entry visas and transit or stopover visas.

Nationalities Required to Obtain a Visa
A full list of affected nationalities has been published on the official platform: ease.gov.cv. From 1 January 2026, travelers from the following 96 countries must comply with this new requirement:

How to Apply for the Visa Online
Eligible travelers can complete the online application via the dedicated portal, submitting key details such as passport number, date of birth, and Cape Verde travel plans. Applicants should have their travel dates, accommodation, and flight details ready before applying. No supporting documents are required with the application.
The visa fee is €53.50 and includes travel-related services, broken down as follows:
Airport security tax (€30.83)
30-day tourist visa (€22.67)

The airport security tax is mandatory for all air travelers entering Cape Verde, regardless of visa requirements. Nationalities exempt from visa requirements can pay this tax online via the same portal or in person upon arrival.
Regardless of the purpose—tourism, study, business, or medical visits—the visa will be labeled as a 30-day tourist entry. Travelers planning to stay beyond this period must contact the nearest Cape Verdean embassy.
