Kazakhstan approves visa-exemption deal with Vietnam

Kazakhstan and Vietnam have agreed to a visa-exemption deal allowing 30-day stays for travelers, effective since June 2023.

The Kazakh government has recently approved a visa-exemption agreement with Vietnam, allowing citizens of both nations to travel without visas between the two countries. This deal aims to strengthen bilateral relations and boost tourism, economic, and cultural exchanges between Kazakhstan and Vietnam. The measure came into effect on 13 June 2023.

Boosting tourism and economic ties through visa-free access

The agreement states that citizens of Kazakhstan and Vietnam, provided they hold a passport valid for at least six months, will be exempt from visa requirements. They may now enter, exit, transit, or temporarily stay in either country for a maximum of 30 days from the date of entry. However, it’s important to note that the cumulative duration of their stay must not exceed 90 days over any three-month period.

Should citizens of either country wish to extend their stay beyond these limits, they will need to comply with existing regulations and apply for a visa.

Mutual benefits for both nations

This agreement is expected to deliver significant advantages for both Kazakhstan and Vietnam. On one hand, Kazakh travelers can explore Vietnam’s cultural riches and tourist attractions without a visa, including Ha Long Bay, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City. On the other, Vietnam aims to attract more Kazakh tourists and investors through this measure, supporting the country’s economic and tourism growth.

The deal is also poised to enhance academic and scientific exchanges between the two nations. Kazakh and Vietnamese students and researchers will find it easier to visit each other’s countries for exchange programs, conferences, or joint research projects. This strengthened academic cooperation can help develop skills and knowledge on both sides while fostering lasting partnerships between Kazakh and Vietnamese academic and research institutions.
