Namibia eVisa Update: Expanded Eligibility and Arrival Visa Fees

Namibia expands eVisa eligibility to 36 new nationalities while introducing steep additional fees for on-arrival visa processing starting later in 2025.

As of April 1, 2025, a total of 33 nationalities are now eligible to apply for the Namibia eVisa. Exemptions for these travelers have been revoked, and it is now mandatory to initiate the visa application process online before any planned travel to Namibia. Several key changes have been announced, including the addition of new eligible nationalities to the online visa program and new surcharge fees for any on-arrival visa requests processed by an immigration agent.

An official communiqué issued by Namibia’s Ministry of Information and Communication Technology on September 2, 2025, outlined critical updates regarding the visa-on-arrival process.

Expanded List of Eligible Nationalities

An additional 36 nationalities are set to qualify for a Namibia visa on arrival. The complete updated list includes: Åland Islands, American Samoa, Andorra, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, The Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Bolivia, Brunei Darussalam, Central African Republic, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, Georgia, Grenada, Haiti, Kiribati, Maldives, Malta, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, State of Palestine, Panama, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Samoa, Slovenia, Suriname, Sweden, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vanuatu.

Namibian authorities have not yet announced the exact implementation date. Until the new policy takes effect, travelers must continue to apply for visas through a Namibian embassy or consulate.

New Surcharge Fees for On-Arrival Visas

Only travelers holding passports from the 90 previously eligible countries may use the government portal https://eservices.mhaiss.gov.na/ to start the online visa-on-arrival process before finalizing entry with immigration officials. Visa fees vary by nationality and age:

  • African travelers over 12 years: N$1,200 (≈ US$62) / ages 6–11: N$600 (≈ US$31)

  • Non-African travelers over 12 years: N$1,600 (≈ US$82) / ages 6–11: N$800 (≈ US$41)

The immigration bureau will now impose a mandatory N$400 service surcharge on any visa application submitted in full at an immigration counter upon arrival in Namibia—that is, if the eVisa process was not initiated online in advance.

To ensure a smooth application, your passport must remain valid at least six months beyond your intended entry date. Applicants must also provide a recent passport-style photo or selfie on a neutral background. For online on-arrival applications, double-check your designated entry point into Namibia.
