Saint Kitts and Nevis to Launch Electronic Travel Authorization in 2025
Saint Kitts and Nevis will introduce a new Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system in 2025 for visa-exempt nationalities, streamlining entry while enhancing border security.
Saint Kitts and Nevis, the Caribbean archipelago, is set to modernize its entry procedures with the introduction of an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system scheduled for 2025 for visa-exempt nationalities.
This initiative, announced by Prime Minister Terrance Drew during his budget address on 16 December 2024, aims to simplify the traveler experience while strengthening national security. No launch date has been officially confirmed.
Streamlined Entry Process
The ETA system will allow visitors to submit their personal information ahead of their arrival on the island. This step is designed to expedite the entry process, reducing wait times at the airport. The Prime Minister noted: « When you get off the plane, we already have everything we need about you. All you have to do is step forward and all your data is collected. »
This digital approach aims to provide a smoother experience for travelers while facilitating the management of incoming passenger flows.
Balancing Security and Accessibility
The introduction of the ETA reflects Saint Kitts and Nevis’ broader goal of balancing security with accessibility. The government seeks to ensure border protection while welcoming an increasing number of tourists.
Terrance Drew emphasized that the aim is to create borders that are both secure and welcoming, allowing the country to better integrate into the global tourism landscape.
It is important to note that the ETA will not fully replace existing procedures. Currently, all travelers must still complete an electronic immigration and customs form prior to arrival. The ETA will, therefore, be an additional step, reinforcing the existing framework.

The arrival form for Saint Kitts & Nevis
Introducing the ETA does not signal the end of traditional visas. Citizens of many Western countries will continue to enjoy visa-free entry to Saint Kitts and Nevis. Travelers from non-exempt countries (primarily parts of Asia and Africa) already benefit from an existing electronic visa (e-Visa) system, which allows for online visa applications. |
