Saudi Arabia Grants 30-Day Grace Period to Overstayed Visitors
Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) has extended a 30-day grace period for visitors with expired visas to exit legally, covering all visit visa types, including family, tourism, and business visas.
Saudi Arabia has introduced a new initiative allowing visitors whose visas have expired to benefit from a 30-day grace period for legal exit. To avoid additional overstay penalties, travelers must settle any outstanding visa-related fees during this extended window. This process will validate their definitive exit and legal departure from the Kingdom.
The measure, implemented by the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat), took effect on 26 July 2025 and applies to all types of expired visit visas, including family, tourist, business, single-entry, and multiple-entry visas.

Eligibility and Conditions
To utilize this 30-day grace period, affected visitors must:
Settle all fines and associated fees related to their visa;
Submit a request via the Tawasul service on the Ministry of Interior’s Absher electronic platform.
This process regularizes the visitor’s status and secures a final exit permit. Both the application and fee payment must be completed within the grace period to prevent further penalties or restrictions.
This extension does not permit a visa extension or conversion; its sole purpose is to facilitate legal departure from the Kingdom. It applies exclusively to individuals currently in Saudi Arabia whose visit visas expired on or before 26 July 2025. Those outside the Kingdom are not eligible. Authorities emphasize strict adherence to the deadline, stating that no further exceptions or extensions will be granted once the window closes.
