Thailand’s New Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) Mandatory Starting May 1, 2025

The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), replacing paper TM6 forms, will become mandatory for all foreign travelers entering Thailand from May 1, 2025.

Prepare for your next trips to Thailand! The entry-formality landscape for the Kingdom of Siam is undergoing rapid transformation. A new digital process, the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), will be mandatory for all foreign travelers entering the country starting May 1, 2025.

Say goodbye to the paper TM6 form! We first announced this in January, and now it’s official. The TDAC will permanently replace the old paper immigration form TM6. Going forward, all foreign travelers, regardless of whether they hold a visa, must complete this digital arrival card within 72 hours before entering Thailand.

Whether you arrive by air, land, or sea, this requirement applies to every traveler.

How does the TDAC work?

The process is designed to be simple and quick. Here are the key steps to completing your TDAC:

  1. Visit the official website: Go to tdac.immigration.go.th and select “Arrival Card.”

  2. Enter your personal information: Full name, date of birth, nationality, passport number, visa number (if applicable), etc.

  3. Provide travel details: Arrival date, mode of transport, purpose of stay, address in Thailand (hotel or residence), etc.

  4. Report health status: List countries visited in the 14 days before arrival. This step is required by Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health.

  5. Review and confirm: A summary is provided for you to check and correct.

  6. Submit your email: Your TDAC will be emailed to you as a downloadable PDF.

  7. Submit the form: After accepting the terms, finalize your submission. Your card will be generated immediately.

  8. Download and store your card: Keep a printed or digital copy of your TDAC throughout your stay and present it at immigration upon arrival.

Key exceptions: Only travelers in transit without clearing immigration and those holding a “Border Pass” for designated crossings are exempt.

Efficiency and security enhanced: Beyond streamlining traveler experience, the TDAC enables Thai authorities to centralize visitor data and strengthen health-screening measures. This update is part of a broader shift in Thailand’s migration policy, which already includes the rollout of electronic visas (e-Visa). Note that the TDAC is not a visa.

Visamundi plans to offer personalized guidance on the new TDAC process in the coming weeks.

Tourist tax and ETA update

The planned reintroduction of the 300-baht tourist fee in 2025 has been postponed. The Thai government wants to ensure the TDAC system is fully operational before layering on additional financial requirements.

Similarly, the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)—a pre-arrival clearance system familiar in Europe and the U.S.—has also been delayed. ETA rules would have applied to visa-exempt travelers; for now, the focus remains on rolling out the TDAC. Future integration of ETA within the TDAC is still under consideration.

Meanwhile, confirmation of Thailand reducing the visa-free stay period to 30 days is expected in the coming weeks.
