Cameroon Doubles Long-Stay Visa Fee to 305 Euros

Cameroon increases long-stay visa costs by 100% to €305, introducing electronic-only processing and abolishing the express visa category.

Cameroon has recently announced a significant revision to long-stay visa fees, increasing from €153 to €305. This decision forms part of a broader update to visa policies aimed at improving consular services and meeting the growing needs of international travellers. The article outlines the new visa terms, associated costs, and implications for applicants.

Updated Long-Stay Visa Fees

Context and Rationale

As of 12 July 2024, Cameroon has introduced a new fee structure for long-stay visas. The move is intended to sustain high service standards amid rising administrative demands. By doubling fees, the government aims to offset operational expenses and upgrade consular infrastructure.

Fee Breakdown

The updated long-stay visa fees for Cameroon are summarised below:

Visa Type

Permitted Stay

Validity

Processing Time

Consular Fees

Long-Stay Visa

Up to 90 days

6 months

5 working days maximum

€305

These revised rates apply to all eligible nationalities and cover multiple-entry access. The Long-Stay Express Visa has been discontinued as part of the policy change.

How to Apply for a Long-Stay Visa

Electronic Visa (e-Visa)

Since April 2023, Cameroon has offered an electronic visa (e-Visa) system to streamline and speed up applications. Applicants can now submit documents online via the official portal. Once approved, the e-Visa is issued and can be used to board flights from any country.

Required Documents

To apply for a long-stay visa, applicants must provide the following documents:

  • A passport valid for at least six months beyond travel date

  • A notarised invitation to Cameroon or accommodation certificate

  • A copy of flight ticket or reservation

  • A copy of yellow-fever vaccination record

  • For minors, a copy of the birth certificate, signed authorisation from both parents, and copies of their passports or ID cards

All documents should be uploaded on the official evisacam website or routed through an experienced visa agency.
