European tourists exempt from Mongolia visa until 2026

The Mongolian government has extended visa-free entry for citizens of 34 European countries until 2026, simplifying travel for short-term tourism stays.

Tourism in Mongolia has been growing steadily since the 2000s, thanks to its unique landscapes and millennia-old culture. For several years now, Mongolia has also implemented initiatives to develop sustainable and responsible tourism, aiming to protect its environment and boost the local economy. With its epic landscapes and fascinating culture, Mongolia remains a top destination for travelers seeking adventure and discovery.

Until the end of 2025, passport holders from 34 European countries are exempt from visa requirements for tourism stays of up to 30 days: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Norway, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and Switzerland.

These countries join the 27 nations already exempt from tourist visa requirements: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, South Korea, Ecuador, the United States, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine and Uruguay.

Travelers from these 34 European nations no longer need to apply for a visa to visit Mongolia, whether upon arrival, at a Mongolian embassy or consulate, or through the online e-Visa system introduced in October 2021.

However, individuals traveling to Mongolia for work, family visits, study, internships, humanitarian purposes, or for stays exceeding 30 days remain required to obtain a Mongolian visa from an embassy.
