Jordan Visa Update: 90-Day Stay Now Authorized

Jordan now offers a simplified 90-day temporary residency permit for foreign visitors, streamlining entry and boosting tourism, medical travel, and investment.

Jordan’s Interior Minister Mazen Faraya has introduced streamlined procedures to simplify residency for foreign nationals entering the Kingdom, aiming to ensure a seamless process for visitors while encouraging tourism, medical travel, and investment to support the national economy.

Temporary Residency Extended to 90 Days

One of the most significant changes is the simplified immigration process for arrivals. Foreign visitors to Jordan now receive a 90-day temporary residency permit stamped immediately upon entry, removing the prior requirement to visit an immigration office for an extension after the first month. While the existing visa system remains in place, this new flexibility enhances accessibility for tourists, business travelers, and investors alike.

This measure applies to visitors with a defined, predetermined length of stay as determined by authorities. It does not apply to those entering on work visas. Depending on nationality, a visa may be required before arrival. Since launching the e-visa platform, travelers can apply online in advance to simplify entry procedures. The Jordan Pass waives visa fees for certain nationalities when entering via Aqaba, provided they stay at least three consecutive nights in Jordan and purchase the pass prior to arrival. The simplest option remains applying for an e-visa in advance.

By extending temporary stays from one to three months, the government aims to foster deeper exploration of Jordan’s heritage and natural wonders— from Petra and the Dead Sea to Wadi Rum.

Additionally, this reform supports the medical tourism sector, a growing pillar of Jordan’s economy. The extended residency period allows international patients to undergo specialized treatments, rehabilitation, or wellness programs with greater flexibility.
