Travelers planning a trip to Suriname🇸🇷 will need to comply with a new entry-fee regulation. Since January 15, 2024, the $25 entry fee must be paid online before departure for this South American destination.
Suriname's New Entry-Fee Policy: What You Need to Know

Payment must be completed online prior to travel ($25 USD, payable at €21.67)
Travelers must present the digital entry receipt at boarding
Payment in advance avoids potential delays upon arrival in Suriname
Previously, the fee could be settled upon arrival, but this option is no longer available as of January 15, 2024.

How to Pay the Entry Fee Online
To pay the entry fee, visit the dedicated government portal and submit the following using a scanned copy of your passport:

After completing payment and entering all required details, you will receive a digital entry receipt to present during boarding.
Exemptions: Who Doesn’t Need to Pay the Entry Fee
Not all travelers are subject to the new entry-fee rule. Since May 1, 2023, Suriname has reinstated visa requirements for passport holders from 21 countries:
Afghanistan, South Africa, Angola, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Cuba, Egypt, Eritrea, Ghana, India, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Dominican Republic, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tunisia, Venezuela, and Zambia.
While travelers from these countries must obtain an e-Visa before visiting Suriname, they are not required to pay the entry fee.
Emergency Exception and Special Exemptions
The Suriname Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Business and International Cooperation notes that in exceptional emergency cases, travelers may enter Suriname without an entry receipt. However, this is only permissible after securing written approval from the ministry.
