Thailand Launches E-Visa for Pakistani Citizens
Thailand's e-visa system for Pakistani citizens goes live on January 1, 2025, simplifying online visa applications for travel, business or family visits.
Starting 1 January 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Pakistan has launched an electronic-visa (e-visa) system for Pakistani citizens, allowing them to apply for Thailand visas online without visiting an embassy or consulate.

To obtain the e-visa, Pakistani citizens must complete an online form, entering personal details and uploading supporting documents—varies by visa type—before paying the required fee. The e-visa is then issued by email; processing usually takes several days, so applicants are advised to apply early.
E-visas grant stays of up to 60 days and cover tourism, business or family visits. Nationals wishing to stay longer can extend their visa at a Thai immigration office.
The e-visa launch is expected to further boost travel between Pakistan and Thailand, a relationship that saw more than 100 000 Pakistani arrivals in 2019, with further growth anticipated.
The Thai immigration authorities have also extended e-visa eligibility to Afghan nationals.
Thailand’s e-visa system went live on 1 January 2025 and authorities plan to roll out the facility across all Thai embassies and consulates worldwide. Recent developments also suggest potential changes to visa-exempt stays, with the possibility of reducing the visa-free period from 60 to 30 days.
