Top 10 nationalities visiting Thailand the most in 2022

Thailand welcomed 11.82 million international tourists in 2022, surpassing expectations. Discover the top 10 visitor nationalities and key entry points.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, governor of Thailand’s Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), revealed that according to foreign tourist arrival statistics for the entire year 2022—from 1 January to 31 December—the country recorded 11,818,727 visitors, exceeding TAT’s target of 10 million.

Daily arrivals ranged from 65,000 to 93,000 people.

The top 10 markets for international arrivals in Thailand were:

  • Malaysia: 1,951,834 arrivals

  • India: 965,994 arrivals

  • Laos: 844,958 arrivals

  • Cambodia: 591,657 arrivals

  • Singapore: 589,770 arrivals

  • South Korea: 543,337 arrivals

  • Vietnam: 471,123 arrivals

  • United States: 462,065 arrivals

  • United Kingdom: 456,710 arrivals

  • Russia: 440,017 arrivals

The top five entry checkpoints with the highest number of international tourists were:

  • Suvarnabhumi Airport: 6,092,599 arrivals

  • Phuket Airport: 1,560,665 arrivals

  • Don Mueang Airport: 972,614 arrivals

  • Sadao checkpoint: 729,976 arrivals

  • Nong Khai checkpoint: 348,529 arrivals
