Vietnam Unveils 10-Year Golden Visa to Boost Tourism and Investment

Vietnam introduces a renewable 10-year golden visa to attract long-term tourists, investors, and professionals, streamlining digital visa procedures to enhance economic and cultural ties.

Vietnam has recently introduced a renewable 10-year golden visa aimed at attracting long-term tourists, investors, and foreign professionals. This long-term residency program targets individuals who contribute to the country’s tourism sector, innovation, or economy, with the goal of strengthening cultural and economic ties—particularly with Indian nationals.

Digitized Visa Procedures

As part of this initiative, Vietnam has also streamlined visa procedures for short-term tourist and business visits. The process now features enhanced digitalization, eliminating the need to visit an embassy to complete formalities.

Key Long-Term Visa Options

With this new program, Vietnamese authorities aim to attract investment in key economic and tourism sectors. Three main visa categories are available:

  • The golden visa, valid for 5–10 years and renewable.

  • The investor visa, valid for 10 years and offering eligibility for permanent residency after five years.

  • The « Talent Visa », designed for highly skilled professionals in high-growth sectors, valid for five years with simplified renewal.

All applications can now be submitted entirely online, with no embassy appointments required.

Affordable and Dynamic Lifestyle

Beyond economic opportunities, the country offers a lifestyle that blends tradition and modernity. Cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang are known for their safety and affordable cost of living. Foreign residents benefit from a wide choice of international schools, hospitals, and housing options.

Fueling Tourism Growth

Tourism figures reflect Vietnam’s growing appeal: the country welcomed over 7.67 million international visitors in the first four months of the year, representing a 23.8% increase year-over-year, according to Vietnam National Administration of Tourism data. The majority of visitors arrived from China (1.95 million), followed by South Korea (1.58 million), Taiwan (440,000), and the United States (323,000). Japan, Cambodia, Australia, India, Malaysia, and Thailand round out the top ten source markets.

European markets continue to expand, supported by Vietnam’s visa-exemption policy. Visitor arrivals from the UK grew by 20.7%, France 24.7%, Germany 18.8%, Italy 32.6%, Spain 12.9%, Denmark 12.7%, Sweden 16.3%, and Norway 11.5%. To sustain this momentum, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism plans to launch seven promotional campaigns, aiming to attract between 22 and 23 million international tourists this year.
