Yemen Launches New e-Visa System to Modernize Entry

Yemen’s new e-Visa portal streamlines travel entry, offering digital visa applications for tourism, business, work, and more, starting June 2025.

Yemen has taken a major step forward with the official launch of a new electronic visa (e-Visa) system, designed to simplify entry for foreign travelers, whether tourists or professionals. The e-Visa project has been under development since 2021, with the system now operational as of June 2025.

A unified online platform for visa applications

The official portal yemenevisa.org now allows travelers to complete their visa application process entirely online. The new service supports multiple visa categories:

  • Tourism (individual and group)

  • Business

  • Diplomatic

  • Work

  • Transit

This eliminates the need for in-person visits to Yemeni embassies or consulates, making travel to the country more accessible even amid international tensions or limited consular services.

Advantages of the e-Visa system

  • Streamlined and fast processing: 85% of administrative steps are now automated, significantly reducing processing times and manual paperwork.

  • Full digital process: All procedures take place online, from document submission—including a passport valid for at least 180 days, return ticket, medical certificate, and supporting documents relevant to the trip—to receiving the e-Visa via email within 3 to 5 business days after final dossier validation.

  • Enhanced security: The system includes anti-fraud controls, with all applications subject to standard security verification.

  • Multiple entry points: The e-Visa is valid at all border crossings, including airports, seaports, and land borders.

A modern international initiative

Supported by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United States, and regional partners, this program reflects Yemen’s alignment with global entry and border management standards. It also aims to revitalize the national economy through tourism and international trade.

Currently, payment must be made in cash (USD) at the main center in Aden or via embassies, pending the full implementation of an online payment solution.
