Mandatory Digital Customs Form Required for Ecuador Travelers
All travelers entering or leaving Ecuador by air or land must now complete the online Customs Registry Form (FRA) within 72 hours of departure, including personal, travel, and customs declarations, to avoid fines or entry refusal.
Starting July 29, 2025, all travelers to or from Ecuador will face a new requirement: the online Customs Registry Form (Formulario de Registro Aduanero, FRA), previously mandatory only for specific cases, will become compulsory for every person crossing the country’s borders.
Until now, the FRA applied only to travelers carrying taxable goods or sums exceeding $10,000 USD. However, from this date, every traveler entering or exiting Ecuador—whether by air or land—must complete the form online, functioning as a pseudo-arrival card. There are no exceptions to this rule.
What the form covers and how to complete it
The Customs Registry Form (FRA) goes beyond baggage details. It requires personal information, travel and flight specifics, and standard customs declarations. Once submitted online, travelers receive a QR code to present to immigration and customs officials upon arrival. Failure to present this code may result in fines or denial of entry or exit.

To ensure smooth travel, Ecuadorian customs authorities urge travelers to complete the form as soon as possible. Although the form can be filled out online up to 72 hours before departure, last-minute submissions are discouraged.
Here are the steps to complete the FRA:
Access the official customs website: Visit the website of Ecuador’s National Customs Service at www.aduana.gob.ec.
Navigate to the FRA section: In the top menu, click "Service to Citizens," then select "For Travelers," and finally "Customs Registry Form."
Create an account or log in: New users must register on the ECUAPASS platform using their passport or ID number and password. Existing users can log in directly.
Complete the form: Fill in personal information, travel details, and required customs declarations.
Submit the form: Submit the form no later than 72 hours before travel.
Receive and save the QR code: After submission, you’ll receive a QR code. Save or download it to your phone for presentation to officials.

A QR code is generated upon completion of the official FRA process
Ecuador Travel Update: The country recently ended visa-free transit, meaning 45 countries now require a visa for layovers. |
