From September 7, an extra requirement to enter Brunei
Brunei has introduced mandatory BruHealth app use for all arrivals from September 7, 2024. Travelers must complete a digital health declaration and undergo health screening to curb Mpox spread.
Brunei’s government has rolled out new inbound health screening measures, effective September 7, 2024, to bolster prevention of Mpox (formerly monkeypox) transmission.
BruHealth app now mandatory
Digital health declaration required
All travelers—by air, land, or sea—must use the BruHealth mobile application (available for iOS and Android) to submit a compulsory health declaration upon arrival in Brunei.
App features
The BruHealth app, developed by Brunei’s Ministry of Health, includes:
Digital health declaration form
Travel history tracking
Interfacing with border control systems
Real-time alerts for travelers and health authorities

Digital health declaration details
Required traveler information
The declaration asks for:
Travel history for the past 21 days
Presence of Mpox symptoms
Contact with confirmed or suspected Mpox cases
Details on recent vaccinations, including smallpox
Implemented under the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204), non-compliance may result in legal penalties.
Entry screening procedures
In addition to submitting the BruHealth declaration, all arrivals undergo health screening at entry points, which may include:
Temperature checks
Visual inspection for rash-like symptoms
Interviews with health officers as needed
Travelers displaying Mpox-compatible symptoms or reporting high-risk contacts will be isolated and further assessed by health authorities.
