Japan e-Visa Now Available to Indian Travelers

India-based travelers can now apply for a Japan e-Visa, streamlining entry for up to 90-day stays. Learn about the streamlined process, required documents, and key restrictions.

Since April 1, 2024, Japan has expanded eligibility for its electronic visa (e-Visa) to include Indian citizens and foreign nationals residing in India. The e-Visa grants travelers permission to visit Japan for stays of up to 90 days.

The Embassy of Japan in India made the announcement via its official website.

Streamlined Process for Japan e-Visa Applicants

To simplify e-Visa acquisition, applicants must present their "visa issuance notice" on a mobile device at the airport upon arrival in Japan or at check-in with the airline. Internet access is required for this step; PDFs, photos, screenshots, or printed copies of the notice will not be accepted.

  • Proof of accommodation reservation or an invitation letter

  • Evidence of sufficient funds for the duration of the visit

  • A return flight ticket or confirmed itinerary
