Jersey Still Allows Entry with Valid French ID Cards
Current Jersey entry rules permit French travelers with valid national ID cards—for same-day visits only—despite recent policy updates requiring passports.
Here’s my experience after visiting Jersey this past weekend (31 October → 1 November 2025): a sign at immigration still appears to allow French travelers with valid French national identity cards (CNI) to visit the Anglo-Norman island for the day—but only from France.

French nationals may travel to Jersey with a valid national identity card—but exclusively for day trips. The conditions include:
No employment on the island.
No overnight stays or trips exceeding one day.
No claims on public funds.
No travel to other Common Travel Area territories (United Kingdom, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Ireland).
A reminder that Guernsey, unlike Jersey, has officially extended CNI eligibility for French travelers through 2026. Given the ambiguity around whether the sign reflects current policy and the sparse passenger loads on ferries, travelers are advised to carry a valid passport to avoid any issues.
