Kuwait Launches "Visit Kuwait" Portal to Boost Tourism, Culture and Entertainment

Kuwait’s new 'Visit Kuwait' portal and digital visa system aim to streamline tourism, cultural events, and business visits as part of Vision 2035.

Since July, Kuwait has undergone a major shift in its visitor welcoming strategy with the launch of the new digital « Kuwait Visa» platform by the Ministry of Interior. This system simplifies and speeds up the issuance of tourist, family, business and government visas. The initiative aligns with the nation’s broader push to modernize processes, balancing controlled openness, economic growth and national security.

Kuwait Vision 2035

Building on this effort, the ministry will officially unveil the new « Visit Kuwait» portal in early November, designed for local and international businesses that wish to host tourism, culture, arts or entertainment events on Kuwaiti soil. The platform will strengthen the private sector’s role in the country’s event economy, in tandem with the visa platform, to improve visitor flow management. Together, these measures support Kuwait Vision 2035, which aims to position the country as a regional leader in tourism, culture and entertainment.

Driving visitor numbers and economic sectors

While the full impact will take time to measure, early indicators already point to positive momentum in real estate, tourism and commerce. The expanded visa categories are set to lift demand for hospitality, dining and services, while creating fresh job opportunities. Real-estate specialist Qais Al-Ghanem predicts that hotels and tourism will feel the effects fastest, while investment-property gains will take months to materialize.

Ibrahim Al-Awadhi, president of the Real Estate Association, notes that reliable, streamlined visa issuance will gradually lift occupancy rates and commercial activity, boosting hotels, restaurants and malls. Current occupancy in investment properties already stands at 87 % with rents expected to climb further in high-demand zones such as Salmiya and Hawalli as new visitors arrive.

Kuwait e-Visa application platform

Obtaining a Kuwait visa remains straightforward only for certain travelers. The Kuwait Visa e-Visa online portal currently serves 53 eligible nationalities, including European citizens, enabling either visa-on-arrival or e-visa applications provided the stay does not exceed three months.

To complete an e-visa application, travelers must present: a valid passport, a recent passport-style photograph and confirmed round-trip flight reservations. Exact requirements vary by visa type, so applicants should review the official checklist to ensure approval.

Travelers from ineligible countries must still apply through the nearest Kuwaiti embassy or consulate.

The digital overhaul of Kuwait’s visa system reflects a commitment to economic diversification. By unlocking new tourism and trade opportunities, the government is fostering a more dynamic private sector while easing the load on public services. A future partnership between the Kuwait Visa and Visit Kuwait platforms is expected to attract more visitors, investors and businesses to the country.
