Seychelles ETA Still Required for Cruise Passengers, Including Transit Stops
Authorities confirm the Seychelles Electronic Travel Authorization remains mandatory for all cruise travelers, including those in transit, putting an end to spreading misinformation online.
Contrary to reports circulating on some traveler Facebook groups and other sources, Seychelles authorities have confirmed to our agency that the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) remains mandatory for all travelers, including those in cruise transit within the island nation.

Warning—this group’s claim is inaccurate
This clarification ends recent speculation fueled by negotiations between cruise lines and local authorities. The recently updated entrance rules for Seychelles are now confirmed to apply with no exceptions.
Background: ETA Requirements for Maritime Arrivals
Since 5 November 2024, Seychelles has required an ETA for every arriving traveler, regardless of entry method—and that includes cruise passengers. The new rule is intended to enhance security and better manage rising visitor volumes across the archipelago.
The ETA is processable online for a standard €10 fee within 24 hours and must be obtained no earlier than 30 days before the scheduled arrival.
No exemptions for cruise transit
Despite some expectations, cruise passengers—even those merely transiting for a few hours—are not exempt from the ETA requirement. Seychelles authorities have reiterated that all visitors must present a valid ETA upon entry, no matter how brief their stay.

Confirmations from Seychelles authorities
Travelers starting or continuing their cruise in Seychelles must also comply.
