After 2020, I'm more aware than ever of my need to travel... Vincent, VoyageTips
Vincent, creator of the travel blog VoyageTips, shares how the pandemic reshaped his travel habits, his optimism for tourism's rebound in 2022, and his dream destinations for the future.
Passionate about travel since the age of 21, Vincent created his blog VoyageTips, where he shares tips, tricks, and essential guides for seamless adventures around the world. From hidden gems in Africa and Asia to road trip itineraries across North America, his content covers a vast array of must-visit destinations.
We interviewed Vincent to explore his perspective on tourism’s evolution and how travel changed in the wake of the health crisis:
What was the biggest change you faced in this past year?
Well, the first major shift—as it was for so many people—was the inability to travel at all.
I typically head out on trips every two to three months to keep VoyageTips updated with fresh content and new recommendations.
I had just returned from an extended research trip covering the top things to do in Dubai and Taiwan when the pandemic hit and lockdowns began.
Since then, one after another, each planned trip has been canceled due to shifting border rules and restrictions.
I miss traveling every day, but I’m aware of how lucky I am to live where the weather is consistently mild, where I can walk the beach, and explore nature outdoors year-round.
Not being able to leave home also gave me time to complete existing projects and launch new ones focused on tourism—pushing me further ahead than if I’d kept hopping on planes. All in all, it paid off.
How did you keep VoyageTips alive and engaging during the pandemic?
The downtime let me tackle articles I’d delayed for months, narrowing in on destinations still open and refining detailed guides.
I stayed glued to country-by-country updates so every post reflected the latest entry rules.
I also overhauled rundown pieces from past trips so they’re ready to shine once borders reopen.
What’s your outlook for tourism’s rebound in the coming months and years?
I’m hopeful everything returns to normal by 2022.
Travel desire is still strong; once health indicators turn green, I expect tourism will bounce back—possibly even stronger than before.
I saw it firsthand this summer: visits to the blog surged even mid-outbreak. People crave change of scenery and won’t hesitate to go when a country reopens, adapting on the fly to new rules and requirements.
From a travel-blogger’s angle, it proves wanderlust remains powerful and readers are ready to explore, no matter the small hurdles.
Are you planning new adventures once it’s safe? Maybe even something top-secret?
Absolutely—it’s all I’ve been dreaming about!
After 2020, I understand even more how travel fuels my life.
I used to fly solo to China every six months; those personal breaks were essential, and skipping them last year hit me hard.
I still crave new scenery, unique food (the good and the questionable alike), and deep dives into fresh cultures.
Yes, it sounds cliché—travel teaches you so much—but I can’t wait to share fresh tips and hidden gems with VoyageTips readers once again.
Any dream destinations you’re eyeing next?
I’ll keep exploring China—it’s a continent-sized country.
Japan should also be back on the radar for 2021 (it was scheduled for this year), followed closely by the American West.
In Europe, Croatia tops the list: I was slated to visit in 2020, and I’m determined to make up for it. The itinerary’s already mapped out!
