India’s Free E-Visa for Filipinos: Boosting Travel to 2026
India offers free 30-day e-visas with double entry to Filipinos from August 2025 to July 2026, part of a bilateral push to strengthen tourism and economic ties.
The Indian Embassy in the Philippines has announced that, starting 1 August 2025 and running through 31 July 2026, Filipino citizens can obtain a free 30-day e-tourist visa for India, valid for two entries. This one-year initiative supports leisure travel between the two nations, following earlier remarks by the Indian Prime Minister confirming the upcoming fee waiver for Filipino travelers.
Strengthening India-Philippines Travel and Tourism
India and the Philippines have unveiled a series of measures to streamline travel and boost tourism for Filipinos heading to India. The announcements follow bilateral talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
In a joint commitment, Modi outlined a comprehensive action plan to deliver on the partnership, while Marcos welcomed the reciprocal visa-free privileges for Indians and thanked India for waiving visa fees for Filipinos. Both leaders emphasized the need to enhance direct air connectivity. As part of this effort, non-stop flights between Delhi and Manila are set to resume in October, aimed at supporting mobility, tourism, and broader economic and cultural exchanges.
Free 30-Day E-Tourist Visa for Filipinos
Filipino travelers can secure a free 30-day e-tourist visa online, which by default allows two entries when validated at immigration upon arrival, with the first entry required no later than the date specified on the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). Applications must be submitted at least four days before arrival and no earlier than 30 days prior to travel, with the passport valid for at least six months at the time of application.
Upon arrival in India, travelers may be asked to present a return or onward ticket, as well as proof of sufficient funds for the duration of their stay—requirements that can be requested during immigration checks. This fee waiver applies only to the 30-day e-tourist visa; longer-term e-visas (such as for tourism exceeding 30 days, business, conferences, medical treatment, medical attendants, Ayush, and student visas) retain their usual fees, as do traditional paper visas issued by the embassy. It’s important to note that Indian e-visas are non-renewable and non-convertible. All other existing e-visa rules—detailed on the official website of Indian e-visa authorities—remain in effect during the announced fee-waiver period.
