Kazakhstan Launches QazETA Platform for Foreigners
Kazakhstan debuts QazETA, a pioneering digital platform offering streamlined e-visas, electronic travel authorizations, and e-residency services to foreign nationals in a single mobile gateway.
Kazakhstan has taken a bold step in modernising its public services with the launch of QazETA, a new government digital platform for foreign nationals. Debuting on 23 January 2026, the project is in a pilot phase, offering convenient, transparent, and secure access to migration services under the “one-stop shop” principle.

A single digital gateway
QazETA’s core mission is to simplify entry and stay procedures in Kazakhstan through a unified interface for all interactions between foreign nationals and government authorities. The initiative aims to raise the quality and efficiency of public services while also boosting transparency and shortening processing times through a dedicated mobile application.
Three key services now live
While the full roll-out is being introduced in stages, three flagship services are already available via the mobile app:
Electronic visa (e-Visa): Citizens of 109 countries are now able to apply for a single-entry visa covering tourism, business, medical treatment, or the new Digital Nomad Visa. Issued on the basis of an electronic invitation, the visa permits entry and exit only through international airport border checkpoints.
Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA): Intended for citizens of visa-exempt countries, this authorization must be requested via the app no later than 72 hours before travel. Valid for 180 days, the ETA does not guarantee entry—the final decision lies with the migration services. During the pilot phase, applying for an ETA is recommended but not mandatory at present; this is set to change as the launch progresses. Visa-exempt travellers may enter Kazakhstan without a visa for stays not exceeding 30 days. Authorities have reinstated visa-free travel for 54 countries, including EU nationals.
Electronic residency (e-Residency): A ground-breaking feature enabling foreigners outside Kazakhstan to access services at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), including opening bank accounts, obtaining an individual identification number (IIN), or registering a business remotely.
The mobile app is the recommended channel for all new applications.
Future outlook and availability
The QazETA app is ready for download now on Google Play and the App Store. Kazakh authorities plan to expand platform features in the near future, introducing health insurance and a Fast Track border passage option for ETA holders. A dedicated technical support service is on hand to assist users during this launch period.
Using the app, travellers can instantly verify, according to their nationality and travel length, whether they are visa-exempt or eligible for an e-Visa or ETA.
