Since January 1, 2026, the Pakistani authorities have put an end, without prior notice, to their Visa Prior to Arrival (VPA). Launched in the summer of 2024, this visa fee waiver allowed nationals of 126 countries to obtain free travel authorization within 48 hours.
If you're planning a tourist or business trip to Pakistan, we've decided to return to the โstandard fee-paying e-Visaโ.
The visa.nadra.gov.pk platform is available to carry out a electronic visa application (e-visa). The visa prior to arrival page is no longer accessible.

Practical changes for your departure
The disappearance of Pakistan's free ETA (the VPA) marks a return to a more conventional, costly and time-consuming immigration procedure. The change in policy has an impact on the citizens of 126 countries and territories, These include the entire European Union, the United States and Canada, as well as many countries in Africa (Morocco, Senegal, South Africa, etc.) and Asia (Japan, China, Indonesia, etc.).
The before/after comparison :
| Visa Prior to Arrival (VPA) - Old procedure | e-Visa Standard - New procedure since January 2026 |
| Free | Paying |
| Quick and easy form | Form with mandatory supporting documents |
| Edition in 24h to 48h | Up to 7 working days for editing |
๐ก Our agency's advice: Don't wait until the last minute to apply. In view of the new processing times, we recommend that you start your application at least 15 days before your flight.
How much does a visa for Pakistan now cost?
Pakistan applies a reciprocal fee system. Consular fees therefore vary considerably depending on your nationality and the type of visa requested (tourist or business).
As an indication, for a standard tourist visa (single entry, valid for 3 months), here are the official fees currently in force on the immigration portal:
European Union citizens (France, Belgium, Spain, etc.): 35 USD
Travelers from North America and UK (United States, Canada, United Kingdom) : 60 USD
Other nationalities (Africa, Asia, Latin America) Amounts vary widely. The system calculates the exact price once your nationality has been entered in the electronic form.
Back to strict requirements: documents to be provided
One of the major advantages of the VPA was the lightness of the documents to be uploaded. With the return to the standard e-Visa, the Pakistani government is once again scrupulous about supporting documents.
For all requests, you must now download :
- A high-resolution color copy of your passport (valid for at least 6 months).
- A recent passport photo biometric standards.
- Proof of accommodation (confirmed hotel reservation for the entire stay or certified letter of invitation from a host in Pakistan).
- A flight reservation or detailed itinerary.
For a business visa, a letter of invitation from the Pakistani partner company (registered with the local Chamber of Commerce) is again strictly controlled.
To ensure that you obtain your e-visa, we recommend that you gather the following information all your receipts to send the authorities a complete file.
