Qantas Launches Direct Flights to Paris for Paris 2024 Olympics
Qantas will operate direct flights between Paris and Perth from July 12, 2024, coinciding with the Paris 2024 Olympics, offering a faster route and seamless connections across Australia and New Zealand.
From July 12, 2024, Qantas will operate direct flights between Paris and Perth, capital of Western Australia. The airline is capitalizing on the excitement surrounding the Olympic Games and surging interest in the highly sought-after European destination.
This new route complements Qantas’ existing nonstop flights to Europe—including Perth to London Heathrow and Perth to Rome.
First flight scheduled for July 12, 2024
The inaugural flight departs on July 12, 2024, serving Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport four times per week—every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday—until mid-August 2024, after which frequency will reduce to three times a week.
Like the carrier’s Melbourne–Perth–London and Sydney–Perth–Rome services, the Paris route will be operated using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner configured for 236 passengers, including 42 in Business, 28 in Premium Economy, and 166 in Economy.
Detailed schedule:
QF33 Sydney–Perth: departs 13:55, arrives 17:00
QF33 Perth–Paris: departs 19:35, arrives 06:55 (+1)
QF34 Paris–Perth: departs 09:55, arrives 08:30 (+1)
QF34 Perth–Sydney: departs 10:00, arrives 16:05
The Perth–Paris sector spans 8,863 miles (14,257 km), with journey times of 17 hours 20 minutes westbound and 16 hours 35 minutes eastbound.
A much-anticipated connection with promising economic impact
Qantas CEO Vanessa Hudson said, “Our direct flights to London and Rome are extremely popular—the French capital is the third-most-sought destination, so we expect strong demand for this route.”
Passengers will benefit from seamless connections through Perth to Qantas’ extensive domestic network—more than 65 destinations across Australia, including Sydney and Melbourne, plus New Zealand.
A long-awaited return to Paris after nearly 20 years
The new service marks Qantas’ first flight to Paris in nearly two decades, cutting more than two hours off the fastest existing travel time between the two cities. Scheduled operations previously ceased in 1998 and resumed intermittently in 2004 via a codeshare with Air France, which continues to offer daily flights from Singapore today.
