Armenia Expands Visa-Free Entry to 113 Nationalities

Armenia adds 113 countries to its visa-free list, allowing longer stays for tourists, investors, and digital nomads with simplified entry requirements as of January 2026.

Skip embassies, paperwork, and processing delays—citizens from 113 countries can now enter Armenia visa-free under a major policy update. Whether you’re a tourist, investor, or digital nomad, this exemption covers multiple travel purposes, provided your nationality is on the approved list.

Published by Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs — Consular Department on December 30, 2025, this major policy shift officially took effect on January 1, 2026.

Who Qualifies for Visa-Free Travel?

Armenia has long maintained a selectively open entry policy, but the expansion to 113 countries shifts it from exception to standard practice. The move aims to attract tourists, digital nomads, and investors alike.

Beneficiaries now include:
🇪🇺 Europe & Schengen Zone: All EU nationals, plus Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein.
🇺🇸 Americas: United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and others.
🌏 Asia & Pacific: Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand.
🏳️ CIS & Neighbors: Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, among others.
🕌 Gulf Nations: United Arab Emirates, Qatar.

ℹ️ Did You Know? EU passport holders can enter Armenia with just a valid national ID card—no passport required—if flying into Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan. All other nationalities must present a valid passport upon arrival.

Under this exemption, visitors may stay for up to 180 days per year, one of the most generous visa-free allowances in the region.

Key Considerations Before You Go

Even with visa-free status, border formalities remain mandatory. Our agency recommends keeping these in mind to prevent any issues:

  • Passport Validity: Must cover entire intended stay; we recommend it remain valid for at least 3–6 months after your planned departure.

  • Return Ticket Proof: While not routinely asked, immigration officers may request evidence of onward travel.

  • Regional Travel History: If your passport bears Azerbaijani stamps, entry into Armenia remains unrestricted (and vice versa), though expect extra screening at customs. Simply declare tourism as your purpose of visit.

  • Travel Insurance: Not always checked at the gate, but highly advised for medical coverage abroad.

Still Not on the Exempt List?

Don’t worry if your country isn’t among the 113. Armenia offers a fast and reliable e-Visa system, with 21- or 120-day options depending on length of stay.
