One way to get a transit visa via a Saudi airline company
Saudi airlines now allow travelers to apply for a transit visa when booking flights to the kingdom, with the approval process handled online through the airline's website.
Since January 30, 2023, Saudia and Flynas have been offering passengers the option to apply for a transit visa when booking a flight to Saudi Arabia. The process is entirely online, free of charge, and must be completed on the airline’s website.
Developed in partnership with key Saudi government bodies such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, this new electronic travel authorization enables international travelers to obtain a transit visa at the time of booking a flight with a Saudi airline. The visa is directly linked to the flight ticket and is valid at all international airports across Saudi Arabia.
This streamlined visa service was introduced as part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative to attract 100 million international visits by 2030.
How to use the transit visa
Once your flight tickets and e-Visa transit approval are confirmed, you may stay in the country for a maximum of 96 hours. While primarily intended for passengers in transit, this visa also allows for short tourist, cultural, business trips, and even Omrah pilgrimages. If you are transiting, you may leave the airport or use the visa if you exit the international transit zone. It remains valid for three months from the date of issue, with the possibility of an extension on-site. For visa extensions, we recommend contacting a Saudi embassy.
