Morocco’s e-Visa: Three Years of Record Growth
Morocco's e-visa system has processed nearly 500,000 applications since 2022, with tourism dominating requests at 94.1%. The digital visa program supports major international events and streamlines entry for travelers.
Since Morocco launched its electronic visa (e-visa) service in July 2022, nearly half a million applications have been processed over three years. The third year saw a significant rise, with nearly 187,900 applications—a sharp increase compared to the previous year.
Electronic Visa (e-Visa)
The e-visa is available in two formats through the MAECI Portal:
Standard visa, issued within 72 hours
Express visa, issued within 24 hours
Eligibility and Affected Countries
Travelers from the following countries must obtain an e-visa before departure: Benin, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Guatemala, India, Israel, Jordan, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The service is accessible to 118 nationalities. Most nationalities, however, are exempt from visa requirements for stays of 30, 60, or 90 days, including citizens of European, Asian, American, and African countries. If your stay exceeds the visa-free duration, check your eligibility for the e-visa.
A recent proposal from Morocco’s parliament sparked debate over potential visa requirements for European visitors. No official communication has been issued since the announcement.
Morocco: A Leading Destination
Tourism accounts for 94.1% of all applications, underscoring Morocco’s appeal as a top destination. Business travel makes up the remaining 5.9%.
The e-visa system has supported major international events, including the World Bank and IMF Annual Meetings in Marrakech (2023), Gitex Africa Morocco (2024 and 2025), and upcoming sporting events.
The e-visa modernizes and digitalizes entry, promoting ease of travel. With major international events on the horizon, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup, Morocco positions itself as a premier, accessible destination.
