It’s official: the 2021 International Experience Canada season is open!
In this first IEC draw of 2021, Canada is offering 7,100 spots to French citizens, 750 to Belgians, and 80 to Luxembourgers. You can now submit your Working Holiday Visa (PVT) application and take your first step toward becoming a PVTist in Canada. To help you navigate the submission process, we recommend following our step-by-step tutorial “Creating and Submitting Your Application” on PVT Facile!
Due to the ongoing pandemic, Canada has added special conditions for Working Holiday applicants. All participants will be required to present a valid job offer. At entry, you must complete a 14-day quarantine, undergo a PCR test on arrival, and self-isolate in a designated hotel for three days while awaiting your results.
The following overview provides key statistics about the PVT Canada program and its rising popularity, with data points current through 2021.
How Canada’s Working Holiday Visa (PVT) Program Works
The IEC Working Holiday Visa (PVT) lets young adults aged 18 to 35 live and work in Canada for up to one year. The programme draws thousands of young French travellers each year and in 2021 received more than 100,000 applications—up 25% from 2020. This surge in interest reflects several compelling factors:
Canada’s stunning natural landscapes, rich cultural tapestry, and welcoming communities.
A relatively affordable cost of living that still allows for comfortable travel and everyday life.
A vibrant job market where you can secure work even with only basic English skills.
A life-changing experience that fosters cultural discovery, new friendships, and personal growth.
What Drives French Travellers to Choose the PVT Canada
From the snow-capped Rockies to Quebec’s historic charm, the allure of Canada has never faded. Here’s why young French citizens keep lining up for their Canadian Working Holiday Venture.
Dream of Discovering Canada
The country spans forests, mountains, and iconic cities—all of which you can explore during one unforgettable year. Young French participants immerse themselves in a mosaic of landscapes and cultures they’d otherwise never experience at home.
Eager to Work in Canada
With temporary resident permits in hand, PVTists can line up jobs in hospitality, retail, or seasonal work virtually anywhere across the ten provinces and three territories. Fluent English isn’t always required, making it easier to land your first Canadian pay cheque and pad your resume with international experience.
Keen to Meet New People from Around the World
PVT hostels, jobsites, and coworking spaces transform strangers into a tight-knit community as you swap stories and build a global network.
Yearning to Grow Personally
Leaving home for the first time, managing daily life in another language, and navigating a new work culture quickly turn fresh-faced travellers into confident, resilient global citizens.
