Oman Expands Visa-Free Entry to New Nationalities
Oman has broadened its visa-exemption policy by adding eligibility for Turkish, Azerbaijani, and soon Philippine passport holders, aiming to boost tourism and business travel.
The Sultanate of Oman has announced the addition of new nationalities to its visa-exemption program. This initiative is part of a broader effort to facilitate mobility and attract more international visitors.
Enhanced travel for Turkish and Azerbaijani passport holders
A formal agreement signed between Oman and Azerbaijan has come into effect, allowing holders of diplomatic, special, and service passports to travel between the two nations without a visa.
On December 22, 2025, Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an official statement. Oman and Turkey have implemented reciprocal visa exemptions for ordinary passport holders. This new measure eliminates the need for advance visas for short-term tourism visits. To qualify for the exemption, stays in Oman must not exceed 30 days. Travel formalities for Turkish nationals entering Oman have become more accessible, supporting efforts to strengthen tourism flows between the Middle East and Europe.
Philippines set to join the visa-exempt list
The expansion plan goes further. This year, Oman will extend visa-free access to Filipino nationals, making both business and leisure travel more convenient. This decision aims to capture the growing tourism market of Southeast Asia. The most recent update from authorities, published on December 7, 2025, confirmed the move—but no specific implementation date has been announced.
Driving international exchange
The expected impact of these measures on Oman’s hospitality sector is substantial. By removing entry barriers, the country hopes to boost activity in hotels, restaurants, and local tour operators.
The rise in visitor numbers is also expected to benefit the MICE sector (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), further establishing Oman as a leading business tourism hub in the Middle East and helping attract foreign investment.
