How do I know if I'm entitled to travel to a particular country with a particular passport or other identity document? To answer these sometimes difficult questions, IATA, the International Air Transport Association, has created its own search tool. Based on the "Timatic" system used by airlines, this tool lists the rules and regulations concerning border control.
It enables future travelers to find out if they are authorized to travel to any country, and what documents they need to provide. The drawback: IATA has decided to monetize this service. Only 3 free searches are possible, before paying 199 $ per year.
Numerous alternatives have been developed. Although their reliability is called into question by rapidly fluctuating information, these online tools represent a very good alternative for travelers.
