Mongolia: reopening of borders and new e-Visa terms and conditions

It's official: after more than a year's closure, Mongolia's air borders reopened on June 1, according to Tseden-Ish Ganzorig, head of the government press office. The Mongolian immigration authorities took the opportunity to unveil their e-Visa application portal. On this portal, it will be possible to obtain an e-Visa for tourist purposes, for cultural and sporting events, and for transit.

It will be valid for 150 days. It allows the holder to stay up to 30 days (tourism or cultural and sporting events) or 10 days (transit) from the date of entry entered. Only one entry is allowed into Mongolia.

For the moment, no list of eligible nationalities has been released.

You'll need a copy of your passport, a passport photo and proof of your stay (hotel reservation, letter of invitation, etc.).

For the time being, it is not possible to finalize a visa application online. Indeed, "applications cannot be accepted due to Covid-19" indicates the ministerial site.
