On January 18, Donald Trump announced his intention to lift the ban on travelers from Brazil, the European Union and the United Kingdom. In his proclamation, Donald Trump said, "This action is the best way to continue protecting Americans from Covid-19 while allowing safe travel to resume."
However, future US President Joe Biden disagrees. To date, Joe Biden does not plan to reopen the country to international travelers. Very soon after Donald Trump's proclamation, White House spokesperson Jen Psaki spoke of "With the pandemic worsening and more contagious variants emerging around the world, now is not the time to lift restrictions on international travel (...). In fact, we plan to strengthen public health measures concerning international travel to further mitigate the spread of Covid-19".
Joe Biden, who takes office on Wednesday, plans to step up measures for international travelers.
