On Wednesday February 23, 2022, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) decided to remove the requirement for a second PCR test on day 5 under the Test and Go quarantine exemption program for entry into Thailand.
As of March 1, 2022, this second test will no longer be compulsory and the hotel reservation receipt for the fifth day will no longer be necessary either.
Instead, travellers will have to take a rapid antigen test and record the result on the "Mor Chanawhich they will have to download and use once in Thailand.
The CCSA has also agreed to reduce compulsory health insurance coverage for foreign travelers from 50,000 to $20,000.
However, travelers are still required to register to apply for a Thailand Pass, and must also show a negative RT-PCR test result performed no later than 72 hours before departure from their country of origin.
On the other hand, Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, stated on February 21 that the Thailand Pass system could not be lifted for the time being because "it's a data center for important information about tourists that can be used to track them when they travel to Thailand".
