Hajj 2026: Omra visas will stop being issued on March 20

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has unveiled the final administrative calendar for the Umrah 2026 season, imposing strict deadlines on pilgrims to prepare the holy sites for the great Hajj pilgrimage.

According to the latest guidelines, the deadline for issuing Umrah visas is March 20, 2026. This date should coincide with the end of the month of Ramadan or the first day of Shawwal 1447 H.

An entry and exit calendar

In addition to the visa deadline, pilgrims must meet two other travel deadlines:

  • Last authorized entry : Pilgrims must arrive in the Kingdom no later than April 3, 2026 (15 Chawwal 1447 H).
  • Departure deadline : All pilgrims performing Umrah must leave the country before Saturday, April 18, 2026 (1 Dhul-Qa'dah 1447 H).

The authorities insist that no extensions will be granted beyond the April 18 deadline.

Access to Mecca will be temporary closed

It is important to note that these restrictions apply universally. Even pilgrims holding a visa with a standard 90-day validity are subject to this closure, which takes precedence over the individual conditions indicated on the document.

This policy aims to ensure that the holy city of Mecca is entirely free of Umrah pilgrims, in order to finalize the logistical and spiritual preparations needed to welcome the millions of worshippers expected for the Hajj.

Future pilgrims are therefore strongly advised to complete their visa applications well before March 19 and to plan their trip strictly according to the arrival and departure dates announced by the authorities, to avoid any complications.

The official dates of the Hajj pilgrimage have not yet been announced by the Saudi authorities. The Umrah season for the following Islamic year (1448 AH) is scheduled to reopen in mid-June 2026., shortly after the conclusion of the annual Hajj.
