Since the launch of electronic visa service (e-visa) by Morocco in July 2022, nearly half a million applications have been processed in three years. The third year saw a significant increase, with almost 187,900 applications, a sharp rise on the previous year.

The e-visa can be obtained in two ways, from the DFAIT Portal.
- standard visa issued within 72 hours
- express visa issued within 24 hours
Eligibility and countries concerned
Citizens of the following countries are required to obtain electronic travel authorization before departure: Benin, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Guatemala, India, Israel, Jordan, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam.
This service is available to 118 nationalities. However, most nationalities are exempt from visa requirements for stays of 30, 60 or 90 days, including citizens of European, Asian, American and African countries. A recent proposal from the moroccan parliament has sparked a lively debate about the possible introduction of a visa requirement for European citizens wishing to visit Morocco. At present, there has been no communication from the authorities since this information was announced.
Morocco, an attractive destination
The vast majority of requests (94.1%) concern the tourismconfirming Morocco's attractiveness as a top destination, while 5.9% is for business travel.
The system also supported organizing major international eventsThese include the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in Marrakech in 2023 (109 nationalities covered), and the Gitex Africa Morocco forum in 2024 and 2025 (118 then 117 nationalities covered).
The e-visa modernizes and digitizes the visa application process, making it possible to facilitate travellers' entry into the country. Morocco is positioning itself as an attractive destination, thanks to its dynamic tourist industry and the organization of international events.
The launch of the official e-visa platform was also expected to welcome many travelers to the next international sporting event, the World Cup 2030co-hosted by Morocco.
