The British Home Office recently unveiled its new price list for immigration and nationality, with the official date of entry into force set at April 8, 2026. For international travelers - whether they're passing through for tourism, study or professional expatriation, this update means a general increase in consular fees.
ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization)
The tightening of tariffs does not spare short stays. If you're planning a business trip to London or a vacation in Scotland, here's the direct impact on your travel budget. ETA tariff increase (Electronic Travel Authorization) is the measure that will affect the greatest number of travelers. Essential for nationalities exempt from the traditional visa requirement (such as European, American, Canadian or Australian citizens), the cost of the British ETA will now rise to 20 £ (previously £16), from April 8, 2026.

Standard visitor visas
For travelers from countries subject to visa requirements (notably many African, Asian and Maghreb countries), the cost of consular processing has been increased for all periods:
- Short-stay visa (up to 6 months) from £127 to 135 £.
- Long-stay visa (up to 2 years) Now achieved 506 £ (compared with £475).
- Long-stay visa (up to 5 years) : Franchise a significant milestone 903 £.
- Transit Slight increase from £39 to 41,50 £.
Expatriation, work and study
Candidates for long-term immigrationas well as international students, The April 8, 2026 tariff revision will particularly target the UK. For students (student visas), the attractiveness of British universities remains undiminished, but the administrative cost is increasing. The application fee for a main application made from abroad (as well as for dependents) will increase by £34. Visit new rate : 558 £ (up from £524). For skilled workers (skilled worker visa), the government is also readjusting the contribution required from international talent:
- Contracts of 3 years or less : The price of the visa increases to 819 £ (+ 50 £).
- Contracts of more than 3 years Now stands at 1 618 £ (+ 99 £).
If you're concerned with Permanent Settlement (route to settlement), this is where we see one of the biggest increases. Applying for permanent residency will now require a budget of 2 064 £ (i.e. £126 more than in 2025).
