Ireland reinstates visa requirements for 3 nationalities

The citizens of Dominique🇩🇲from Honduras🇭🇳 and Vanuatu🇻🇺 have seen new visa restrictions put in place to enter Ireland since March 7, 2024. This decision was taken to align Irish visa policy with that of the UK and the Schengen area.

The Irish Minister of Justice, Helen McEnteespoke of a "carefully considered decision". It follows on from the one in September 2023 imposing a visa requirement on Bolivian nationals..

The Irish government has made transitional arrangements for people who have already made travel arrangements before the new rules come into force. These measures will enable such travelers to continue to visit Ireland without being subject to the newly introduced visa requirements.

Although a member of the European Union, Ireland has chosen not to join the Schengen zone and therefore continues to control its own borders. This means that travelers entering Ireland from other countries, including those in the Schengen zone, may need to pass through immigration and customs controls.

Other visa changes announced by the UK

In her announcement, the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Suella BravermanThe United Kingdom, for example, has reported numerous cases of abuse, notably with the citizenship-by-investment programs of Dominica and Vanuatu. The UK will also follow a 4-week notice period for travelers who have already purchased flights.

Reversals due to citizenship by investment

Citizenship by Investment (golden passport Or golden passport) from these two countries have raised questions about their possible abuse.
