Our e-Visa Barometer: which official websites are the most reliable?

Preparing an international trip should be a source of enthusiasm, not anxiety in front of a computer screen. With the widespread use of electronic visas (e-Visas), Governments have digitized their procedures, while at the same time improving the traveler's experience of border controls, to make them faster and simpler.

In reality, the official website varies from country to country. Forms that erase themselves, blockages when paying, pages that refuse to load... As an agency with expertise in travel formalities, we deal with cases on a daily basis. Thanks to our technical tools, we monitored the official websites of 28 destinations in our catalog, for one month.

We analyzed two simple things to create our barometer: Is the site fast? And Does it break down often?

What's really holding travelers back?

Behind these indicators lie very real (and often stressful) situations for travelers preparing their departure.

Sri Lanka, Indonesia or the South Georgia offer a perfect experience. Their official websites respond instantly. You can upload your passport photo without the page freezing, and payment often goes through on the first try.

Contrary to popular belief, the United States (ESTA) or the Canada (AVE) are particularly cumbersome. You may have to wait almost 5 seconds between each click.

Our team's advice: This is due to security checks being carried out in the background. If the page loads, don't click on “Refresh” (F5), otherwise you'll have to cancel your form and start all over again!

THE Myanmar, l'Egypt or the Tanzania have fragile servers that break down regularly.

What's your biggest risk? That the site crashes exactly when you confirm payment by credit card. Result: your account is debited, but the government won't issue your e-Visa because the connection has been cut off. You then have to take long (and complex) steps to complain to the consulates.

Why entrust us with your request? Faced with capricious sites that can complicate your procedure, our agency takes care of transmitting your file to the official sites of the competent authorities, according to each country. Our services simplify your procedures for several reasons:

  • No more lost forms: If the government website is down, you don't have to waste your time. Our system secures your data and sends your file automatically, as soon as the official site is up and running again.
  • Your documents are always accepted: Slow sites (such as Côte d'Ivoire or Cameroon) reject scanned passports that are too “heavy”. Our experts will resize and adapt your files to guarantee acceptance.
  • Payment security : By using our unique and 100% secure platform, you avoid the risk of double billing due to site bugs. You pay once, we take care of the rest.
